The Song of the Year songwriting contest has awarded Irena Kogan Klein the Runner Up placement in the song contest. Song of the Year receives entries from all over the world and only the top songwriters receive a Runner Up placement in the songwriting competition.

In 2009 Irena wrote the music for the film of the director Vladimir Alenikov ‘’ War of Princess ‘’ and recorded the music on the disc.
Irena studies European modern ballet and then wrоte the ballet (Libretto and Music) Scenes of Vincent Van Gogh Life. She tried to highlight in his tragic life still light of Creativity and Nature, the eternal energy of life itself.

2010 - Libretto of the ballet was approved by the choreographer Boris Eifman and choreographers from Israel , Holland and America.
Several music organizations in Germany, America, Russia signed contracts with Irene on composing music.

From 2007 the circle of Irena’s interests moved to the direction of Belgium and Holland. She is learning Dutch, she is reading the poetry of Willem Roggeman , Miriam van Hee,the novels of Cees Nooteboom, Harry Mulisch,Leon de Winter , Arnon Grunberg.
She began to write the musical about Pieter Breughel de Oude and she is looking now for the libretto writer.
She wrote 7 songs for poetry of Willem Roggeman and Miriam van Hee and made the recording on the disk.
Irena became acquainted suddenly with the poetry of Aviv Ekrony ( Israely poet and translator) and wrote two ballads for his poems.
Irena prepars her songs for the poetry festivals in a world.

Israeli composer Irena Kogan recently received the honor of being named Finalist by the Song of the Year songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.

Song of the Year is excited to recognize Irena for her exceptional songwriting ability for the song “The Hope”. Irena competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor.

The organisation of the international film festival in Ashdod has invited Irena with her ensemble King David’s Children to perform during the festival.

Irena is working on a musical about Israeli teenagers. The musical is scheduled for performance for 2007-2008. Interesting detail is that the musical will be peformed not only by professional actors, but also by the teenagers without any theatrical experience.
